Dead babies and gay marriage...

I started this blog forever ago, and I only made two posts to it.  Today I have some things to say that won't fit in a facebook status.  So, here we go....

Let me start by laying out a little scenario for you.  Let's say a young man and a young lady who are not married have sex.  They do not stay together for whatever reason. The young lady gets pregnant.  Under the current laws, she has all the power.  She can choose to have the baby, and make the young man pay child support until the child is grown, or she can choose to kill the baby.  She never has to ask the young man his opinion and he has no rights whatsoever in the situation.  She doesn't even have to tell him.

Ladies.....the body inside your body is not your body.  You should not own all the rights.  You and the young man who conceived this child together are its parents and you have a RESPONSIBILITY to preserve this baby's life and raise it to adulthood.

If you don't want this responsibility you have two choices.  Get on some reliable form of birth control (the pull out method does not count) or close your legs and stop having sex.  Murder is not a choice, it is a crime.

Next Issue..... This election we have coming up.

I can read all the "facts" and listen to the debates, but the real fact is, neither of these guys is telling the whole truth. They're telling us what they think the people in their party want to hear.  That works well for them when people identify only with one party.  It doesn't work so well for them when they're dealing with me.

I am a registered Republican, which is probably a big surprise to some people.  I am fiscally conservative.  I believe in small government. I believe all entitlement programs need to be REFORMED.  There is too much abuse of the system and too many handouts.  People are starting to think the government is supposed to give them everything.  That's not the way it should work, and it won't work.  PEOPLE should work.

However, on some issues, I am pretty liberal.  Marriage for example.  I don't think the government should be making laws about who can and cannot get married.  Marriage as a religious entity is none of the government's concern.  Constitutionally, I have freedom of religion and freedom from religion and there is to be separation of Church and State.  This means there should be no laws made that cater to, are based on, or discriminate against any religion.  Each religious group should hold its members to their own standards of marriage and that is between them and God.  Marriage as a legal contract, however, should be open to any two people who are willing to enter into that contract be they gay, straight, same race, interracial, christian, atheist, or whatever.  It is not the governments business to tell people who they can and cannot love or who they can and cannot share benefits, taxes, bills, or insurance with.

So I ask you.....Where is MY candidate for president?

I have to vote in this election based on the issues that have affected my life the most in the past 4 years and based on what I want for the next 4 years.  Gay marriage and abortion don't affect me personally other than the fact that I don't want my tax money paying for babies to DIE, and I have homosexual friends that I think should be allowed to marry.

This is what does affect me:

I now have to PAY for insurance that used to be free through my job and now the coverage is not as good.
My tax rate has increased every year over the last few years
Gas prices are astronomical

I'm not even going to get into education or my job as a teacher because so much of that is STATE and not
FEDERAL.

Romney or Obama....That is the question.  You make your choice and I'll make mine.  The majority will win and we will all have to live with it.
